Documentary

For this project, I initially came up with the idea of interviewing a friend of mine that was coming from Brazil to Miami to work for an event that would help raise money for an NGO in Brazil. However, we weren't able to film because he didn't stay for long. Then, I ended up coming up with the idea of interviewing my cousin, that I was going to visit. He did a lot of missionary trips, and he has a lot of good stories and pictures from the places he visited, so I thought it would be fun to interview him. After I decided that I was going to interview him I started writing the questions. When we met and were ready to film, I realized that I forgot to bring my card, so we went to a near pharmacy and bought it. I went to try it, but it wasn't working, all the footage I took became blank, so we ended up recording the interview with my phone, in which the quality actually turned out pretty good. Later, I asked him for some pictures and videos from those trips.

As I was ready to edit, my computer had a hard time downloading the footage from drive and other programs. To fix this issue, I borrowed my sister's computer, downloaded the videos and photos on a card, and then transferred it to my computer so I could start editing. Most of the pictures and videos were vertical, so I had to manually fix them as I was editing. When I finished doing that, I looked up for a no copyright background song and added it to the documentary. I think it turned out well, but when I went to download it to upload it to YouTube, it was taking a long time, I waited for over 40 minutes to export it, but it just froze. I tried many other ways to download it, but it didn't work. A solution that I found was to record the screen, and that is what I did. Unfortunately, it lost the image quality, but it was a way that I found to fix the problem.

I think that the most successful part of this project was the questions and the interview itself, we were able to make a relatively long documentary without it being boring. On the other hand, the least successful part of this project was probably my time management and ability to download the video. This project taught me how to better prepare for interviews and filming, and I also learned more features in premiere pro that I didn't know how to use before, such as cutting the videos to make them fit into the frame and lowering and augmenting the decibels in a sound.
