Poetic Film

Planning- https://docs.google.com/document/d/1LmY9TpYpaOJtFj3pmg2MI0vLAOFc3sqrd3Yv3f2aRAk/edit I found the poetic film project very fun to make. At first, I was going to use a poem I'd already written for my English class, but it would be difficult to record the B-roll for the theme of the poem, so I tried to think of something else and I came up with the Ides of writing my poem about nature. After I was done with my poem, I went out to record around my neighborhood. I gathered some b-roll and added to some clips I already had on my cellphone. I believe that the most successful part of this project was collecting the b-roll because I had a lot of footage of the nature on my phone already. The least successful part of this project was probably writing the poem, I could've improved it by studying better poem structures and how to rhyme, although it is not necessary, I think it would sound better. From this project, I learned how to improve my poem writing skills, find beauty in l...

Film for Internet

For this project, I started by making a list of interesting topics I could make my video about. After that, I ended up deciding to make an art tutorial because it was something I really enjoyed. I planned all the steps such as the necessary materials, the sketch, I set up my space to record, the light, and the camera.   I Believe that the most successful part of this project was the editing, putting clips together, and adding the voice over, because even though I wasn't able to edit o my computer I think it turned out good on my iPad too.  The least successful part of this project was probably the variety of shots and the positioning of the camera. To improve that I could have used more than one camera, shoot it from different angles, and use a tripod. From this project I learned how to make a tutorial video on something that I enjoy doing for YouTube and social media.

Good Will Hunting critique

Image
Good Will Hunting is a psychological drama narrative directed by Gus Van Sant and released in 1997, starring Matt Damon as Will, Ben Affleck as Chuckie, Robin Williams as Sean, Minnie Driver as Skylar, and Stellan Skarsgard as Professor Lambeau. Good Will Hunting tells the story of a young genius that hasn't achieved his full potential. Will is discovered by a college professor as he effortlessly solves one of the hardest math problems to ever exist. The professor then does everything to work with him, but he finds out that his temper is not that easy to handle. The film's main message is that one can only fully achieve their potential when in balance with their feelings and emotions. Good Will Hunting is a good example of a three-act structure. The first act introduces the story's setting and characters, which in this case takes place when Will is cleaning the hallway and sees the math problem and solves it. Act one resolves when professor Lambeau takes Will out of prison ...

Art Show Film

Script Sample - Full Script Here    At first, I was having a hard time coming up with ideas for the film, but as I was talking with William, I remembered a book that I once read called  'One of Us is Lying',  and that was where I got my inspiration for the script. In the book five characters go to detention; The nerd, the dealer, the popular girl, the baseball player, and Simon, the character that dies during detention. Up to the end, the book builds this mystery on who killed Simon and shows the personal side of each character while they are being investigated. When we set up the overall idea of the film we partnered with Morgan and Emiro to elaborate more on the script. We ended up recycling some of the characters and putting a twist on the story. Ben Richards (the nerd) was played by Will, Jessica Hart (the dealer) was played by Morgan, Ricardo Alvarez (the football player) was played by Emiro, and Michelle Diaz (the snitch who dies) was played by me. We each...

Soundscape

For this audio project I came up with the idea of doing a dinner scene, I thought to myself all the sounds I could do and tried to mimic them as similar as I could. I think that the most successful part of this project was getting the sounds, as all of them sounded really close to the sounds in real life. The least successful past of this project was editing it, Whenever I transferred the audio from voice memos to my computer, it became mute, so I had to use Premiere Rush on my phone to edit. Overall, this project taught me how to edit a series of sounds to make them seem continuous and how to export audios in voice memos to another device.

Short film project "Create your future"

Script For this project, Will and I worked together to plan and film it. Initially, I was having a hard time coming up with ideas, so he came up with the idea of having two characters applying for college, in which one of them was completely unprepared. Then we started adding more details and building the characters' personalities and interests. We set that the film would be a satire to criticize how some colleges prioritize athletics and donations over scholarship and character. To express this theme one of the characters would be very smart and hardworking, she would participate in stereotypical extracurriculars such as debate, while the other character would be an athlete, from a wealthy family that was applying to an ivy league college last minute. We planned the places and the dialogs and started recording them. One of the places we wanted to film was occupied so we had to improvise and film the writing scene in another room, which aft...

Documentary

For this project, I initially came up with the idea of interviewing a friend of mine that was coming from Brazil to Miami to work for an event that would help raise money for an NGO in Brazil. However, we weren't able to film because he didn't stay for long. Then, I ended up coming up with the idea of interviewing my cousin, that I was going to visit. He did a lot of missionary trips, and he has a lot of good stories and pictures from the places he visited, so I thought it would be fun to interview him. After I decided that I was going to interview him I started writing the questions. When we met and were ready to film, I realized that I forgot to bring my card, so we went to a near pharmacy and bought it. I went to try it, but it wasn't working, all the footage I took became blank, so we ended up recording the interview with my phone, in which the quality actually turned out pretty good. Later, I asked him for some pictures and videos from those trips.  As I was ready to e...
